4th Nine Weeks

Acquisition of Vocabulary
     I can use root words to determine the meaning of words (es, ing, ed endings).
     I can determine meaning and pronunciation using a dictionary and glossary.
Concepts of Print, Comprehension Strategies and  Self-Monitoring Strategies
      I can answer literal, inferential, and evaluative questions. (text, electronic,                visual media-smarboard)
Informational, Technical, and Persuasive Text
      I can identify information in diagrams, charts, graphs, and maps.
Literary Text
       I can distinguish between stories and fairy tales.
       I can identify the theme of a text (overview).
Writing Process
      I can use sentences with a period, question mark, exclamation mark ( . ? !) in                my writing.
      I can add descriptive words and details to my writing and delete unnecessary                information.
      I can proofread writing by using checklists (spelling, grammar, capitals, and                punctuation).
Writing Applications
      I can write stories with a clear message.
Writing Conventions
      I can use a period, question mark, and exclamation mark correctly.
      I can use quotation marks.
      I can use correct subject/verb agreement.
      I can use past/present verb tenses.
      I can use noun/pronoun agreement.
